— Miss Tibet 2007 Tenzin Dolma has landed in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, to participate in the Miss Earth pageant.

She is among eighty-six young ladies from different countries around the world competing in the seventh edition of the pageant, organised by Carousel Productions Inc.

"I feel very proud and happy to be standing with delegates from 85 different countries and to be able to speak something about our rich Tibetan culture. I am happy to know that most of the people here in the Philippines are aware of the Tibetan issue — most of them are asking me about His Holiness the Dalai Lama and about the US congressional gold medal he was honoured with recently. Some even know Tibetan history. However, I am trying my level best to educate them even more about Tibet," Dolma says through email.

"Miss Hong Kong is very interested to have an idea of Tibet. She supports Tibet very much. Through her I am able to communicate with Miss China, who doesn't speak any English," says Dolma.

"I am really enjoying it here, and all the representatives have been very nice to me as the MISS TIBET," she adds.

The talent, swimsuit and evening gown rounds are now over. The finale night and the coronation of the new Miss Earth will take place on 11 November 2007 at the University of the Philippines theatre in Manila.

Thirty candidates of the Miss Earth 2007 pageant had earlier toured Vietnam from 30 October to 1 November in a special preview show.

Since its beginning in 2001, the Miss Earth competition has become one of the biggest beauty pageants in the world.

The purpose of the Miss Earth competition is to promote and be actively involved in the preservation and protection of Mother Earth.
