Miss Tibet 2006 Swimwear Round

Miss Tibet pageant kicks off with the swimwear round

The fifth Miss Tibet pageant kicked off with the swimwear round at the Asia Health Resorts. Five women – Metok Lhanze, Tenzin Palmo, Tsering Chungtak, Tseten Yangzom, and Wangchuk Palmo – competed after Pema Chodon had to quit due to unavoidable circumstance.

The jury consisted of Phil Void, a musician and a supporter of the Tibetan cause for over 30 years, from Woodstock, New York; Priya Dhall, a former model and an entrepreneur from Pune; Utsav Arora, an eminent journalist and a promoter of fashion, from Delhi; and Thierry Dodin, a Tibetologist and the Director of Tibet Info Net London.

It was the first time that the swimwear round was made public. Surprisingly there was only a handful of audience.

The rain and storm came to complete halt and the sky cleared off completely to make way for the swimwear round.

The Day Two – Talent and Presentation (talk) rounds – will be held at TIPA tomorrow, Saturday, from 7 p.m.

The fifth Miss Tibet will be crowned on Sunday after the five girls compete in seven rounds of competitions. The winner will be provided 1,00,000.00 rupees as a scholarship cheque. The first runner-up and the second runner-up will also be declared. Miss Photogenic will also be sashed that evening.
