2 October 2004 – The five contestants vying for the title of Miss Tibet 2004 mingled with journalists and prominent officials at a reception party held in their honour in Dharamsala last night at Asia Health Resorts.

After giving interviews to the media, the five girls went up on stage to introduce themselves before an audience of around 200 guests, including district administrators Mr. Rakesh Sharma and Mr. Ashwini Sood; the executive director of TCV school, Mr. Tsewang Yeshi; the director of Dip Tsechokling Monastery, Mr. Thupten Nyandak; the director of the Tibetan Women's Association, B Tsering; and the director at the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy, Tsewang Lhadon.

A camera crew from the BBC was there to film the presentation hosted by the director of the pageant, Lobsang Wangyal.

One of the hopefuls, Tashi Yangchen, says she felt "very honoured" to be at a function held especially for the contestants and to be in the presence of such dignitaries.

"Interacting with media people and sharing my views on Tibet along with my own personal feelings was a real experience. It was a fabulous night that will be remembered and cherished for a life time", she says.

After a glittering night, it was very much business as usual today. The girls were up at 6 a.m. to continue their week-long training in body fitness with a power yoga session.

This was followed by a workshop given by Sangeeta J., a personality development trainer and previous groomer and make-up artist to Miss World contestants. Sangeeta advised the contestants on how they should present themselves and gave tips on preparation for the pageant and how to fulfil the criteria that judges are looking for, such as stage charisma and confident body language.
