BANGALORE, India, 5 February 2013
We are proud and happy to announce that there will be a new Miss Tibet this year. We received only one application to be Miss Tibet by the 15 January deadline. Holding to the aims and objectives of the Miss Tibet pageant, it has been decided to crown the applicant. We deemed it important to respect her feelings and aspirations.
The coronation ceremony will take place on 13 February in Bangalore.
The applicant is from the US and she has already reached India for the ceremony. She was excited about the pageant, but after she was informed that there were no other applications she replied: “That is quite sad there won’t be a competition. I was looking forward to a fun competition.”
Outgoing Miss Tibet Tenzin Yangkyi will crown the new Miss Tibet.
We dedicate the new Miss Tibet to the Tibetan heroes who sacrificed themselves because of their love for freedom in Tibet. Nearly 100 Tibetans have set themselves on fire since 2009 as this is being released.
The new Miss Tibet will receive one lakh rupees (2000 USD) in cash prize, and will have the opportunity to represent Tibet in international pageants.
I am thankful to the Tibetans residing in Bangalore for their wholehearted support. I also would like to thank fans, friends and others who gave moral support as well as contributed through the RocketHub crowd-funding page. I encourage you to make a contribution so there will be enough funds for the prize money and the ceremony expenses.
Tune back in to see the details on the 13th.
