After three hectic days, with a press conference, excursions, and rehearsals, the nine contestants are ready for the first round in the Miss Tibet Pageant: The Swimsuit Round.
The Tibetan Women’s Association held a felicitation for the contestants in McLeod Ganj, and the president introduced the Association and their aims and objectives, and activities.
Earlier the contestants met former political prisoner Ngawang Woeber, who was former president of the GuChuSum organisation of ex-political prisoners. He spoke about the human rights situation in Tibet, the political prisoners, and the current wave of self-immolations in Tibet.
The owners of Nick’s Italian restaurant hosted the contestants for a dinner. Then they had more practice which ran into midnight.
The Swimsuit Round will take place at Asia Health Resorts on Friday 2 June at 2pm. An entry fee of Rs 200 will be charged at the gate.
