We are proud and honoured to announce that Tenzing Lhamo, from Madison, US, is the new Miss Tibet. She is beautiful, elegant and intelligent. She is a humanitarian and an activist dedicated to work for the cause of a free Tibet.
She is a Registered Nurse with Bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Nursing. For relaxation Lhamo likes to read, listen to music, and learn new things.
Tenzing Lhamo was the only applicant to be this year’s Miss Tibet. Keeping our principles intact and commitment alive, we decided to honour her enthusiasms and aspirations. She, on her part, was confident and willing for a challenging and competitive pageant with others. She felt sad that there were no other applicants.
Her spirited enthusiasm and patriotism kept her focus strong and clear, and she accepted to be crowned as the Miss Tibet 2013.
“Miss Tibet is a woman who is intelligent, brave, charismatic and beautiful inside and out, fighting for the cause of Tibet, raising awareness and inspiring others,” Lhamo says.

I am happy that the outgoing Miss Tibet Tenzin Yangkyi is with us to pass on the crown to the new Miss Tibet. She has been a very active and committed Miss Tibet. I thank her and wish her success in her career in acting and stagecraft.
We dedicate the new Miss Tibet to the Tibetan heroes who sacrificed themselves because of their love for freedom in Tibet. One hundred Tibetans have set themselves on fire since 2009 as this is being released. The latest one being a Buddhist monk in his early 20s who set himself on fire in Kathmandu this morning.
The new Miss Tibet will receive one lakh rupees (2000 USD) in cash prize, and will have the opportunity to represent Tibet in international pageants.
We are thankful to many of the Miss Tibet Pageant fans and friends for their support, with some making monetary contributions. We also would like to thank many of the Tibetans residing in Bangalore for their wholehearted support. Special thanks to the owners of Eastern Diner and Tara Salon and Spa for providing their space for the coronation ceremony, and Jampa Chonzom in Bangalore and Gonpo Gyaltsen (of Gonpo Entertainment) in Bylakuppe for their hospitality.
