China pushes out Miss Tibet

5 December 2007 – Chinese government officials have pressured organizers of a Malaysian beauty pageant to bar Tibet from their event. Miss Tibet 2006, Tsering Chungtak was asked by pageant organizers to wear a sash that read Miss Tibet-China. Chungtak refused and pulled out of the contest. Writing on her website, Chungtak explained her decision: Chungtak said after returning from Malaysia. According to the BBC, Beijing has not made an official comment about the incident.
