Pema Chodon, or Peyang, is 24 years old. She was born in a train. She completed her schooling from Central School for Tibetans, Mundgod, South India. She likes listening to music, karate, river rafting, and mountaineering.

She is currently serving in the Indian army, which she joined in 2000. She has reached up to 7,800 metres on Mount Everest, when India launched the first Indian Army Women's Everest Expedition in 2005. The team had to call off the climb because one of their colleagues needed emergency care. She would like to one day return and conquer Everest.

I would also like to compose songs and sing with a band about the suffering of my countrymen in Tibet. A Miss Tibet can help the Tibetan issue at international levels through peaceful means. ''
