Kalsang Dickey
Kalsang Dickey was born in Nagchu, eastern Tibet, and did her schooling
from Lhasa Middle School. After passing class XII, she pursued dancing and
modelling training in Lhasa and Chengdu for two years.
She heard about Miss Tibet pageant in Lhasa, through a friend who had
retuned to Tibet from India, and in wanting to participate in the pageant,
she fled Tibet in October 2003.
On arrival in Nepal, she first stayed at the Reception Centre for New
Arrivals from Tibet for two months. She is now staying of her own with
meagre help that she receive from friends and relatives.
Kalsang likes dancing. She would like to work to help poor and needy
children and homeless people.
She thinks that Miss Tibet could help to highlight the issue of Tibet
internationally because when the whole world pays attention to Miss Tibet,
much could be explained through it.
